NAD+ protocol

NAD+ is a molecule every cell uses for energy. Most human studies used oral precursors (like nicotinamide riboside), not NAD+ injections. NAD+ injection is not an approved drug.

NAD+ injection is not an approved drug for any useOral precursor studies exist; injection trials are small or starting

The protocol at a glance

No human dose of injected NAD+ is established. The closest registered trial uses an injectable form of nicotinamide riboside (NR), not NAD+ itself.

ItemWhat is known
Human dose of NAD+ injectionNot established
NR injection trial (NCT07251608)50 or 100 mg under the skin, daily for 3 days, then 3 times a week from day 10 to 100
IV NAD+ trials (China, registered)Once a day for 7 days in children with weak hearts (NCT07839130); 21 days of infusions after cord blood transplant (NCT06558253). Amounts not read.
Oral NR trialTaken by mouth for 6 weeks in older adults (Martens 2018)

The NR trial is a safety study of a different molecule, with no results yet. It is the nearest thing to a human injection schedule. Do not treat it as an NAD+ dose.

Community reports

Community protocols describe small injections under the skin several times a week for a couple of months. This is community talk.

What people say they do, collected from community discussions. Not tested in a trial; shown so you can compare it with the evidence above.

Mixing

No mixing table here: this one is used as a capsule, nasal spray or skin product, or has no human amount to calculate from. The general mixing calculator works for any vial.

What the trials found

No human trial shows NAD+ injections slow aging. Closest evidence:

0completed trials of NAD+ injection for anti-aging found
40people planned in the NR injection safety trial
6 weeksoral NR crossover trial: raised NAD+ in blood, well tolerated

Side effects

  • Safety of NAD+ injection is not well studied. I found no completed trial results for it.
  • The NR injection trial is measuring side effects and results are not out yet.

How it works

Cell energy coenzyme

NAD+ is used by cells to turn food into energy. It falls with age. Precursors such as NR raise it in blood.

Injection unknown

It is not clear how much injected NAD+ gets into cells.
