The protocol at a glance

In China's GLORY-1 trial, people stepped up over 8 weeks to a weekly 4 mg or 6 mg injection and stayed there to week 48. GLORY-2 tested 9 mg for 60 weeks.

Weeks (GLORY-1)Weekly amount
1-42 mg (both groups)
5-84 mg (both groups)
9-484 mg group stays on 4 mg; 6 mg group goes up to 6 mg
GLORY-2 (60 weeks)9 mg target; the step-up plan was not in the sources I checked

GLORY-1 schedule is from the ClinicalTrials.gov entry NCT05607680. The 4 mg group was 2 mg for 4 weeks, then 4 mg for 44 weeks. The 6 mg group was 2 mg, 4 mg, then 6 mg for 40 weeks. This is a trial schedule. The Chinese label was not read, so check it for the exact approved doses.

Community reports

Community notes usually follow the GLORY trial doses, stepping up weekly to 4 to 6 mg. This is community talk, not a label.

What people say they do, collected from community discussions. Not tested in a trial; shown so you can compare it with the evidence above.

What the trials found

GLORY-1: 610 adults in China with overweight or obesity, 48 weeks. GLORY-2: 461 adults with obesity, 60 weeks. Average body weight change (treatment-policy analysis):

-14.0%6 mg, week 48 (GLORY-1)
-11.0%4 mg, week 48 (GLORY-1)
-16.7%9 mg, week 60 (GLORY-2)
+0.3% / -1.5%Placebo (GLORY-1 / GLORY-2)

Ji L et al. N Engl J Med 2025 (GLORY-1, NCT05607680). JAMA 2026 (GLORY-2, NCT06164873). Both trials were in Chinese adults, so results may differ elsewhere.

Side effects

  • Stomach and gut effects were the most common. In GLORY-2, 53% had vomiting, 47% nausea and 39% diarrhea on 9 mg, versus 1%, 3% and 6% on placebo. Most were mild to moderate.
  • In GLORY-1, 1.5% (4 mg) and 0.5% (6 mg) stopped because of side effects, versus 1.0% on placebo. In GLORY-2, 2.9% stopped on 9 mg.

How it works

GLP-1 receptor

Like semaglutide, it switches on the GLP-1 receptor, which lowers appetite.

Glucagon receptor

It also switches on the glucagon receptor. This is why it is called a dual agonist.
